“Give thanks to the Lord on the harp;
on the ten-stringed lyre offer praise.
Sing to him a new song;
skillfully play with joyful chant.”

— Psalm 33:2

In the words of St. Augustine of Hippo (354–430 A.D.), Quis cantat bis orat: “The one who sings prays twice.” Indeed, music is integral part of the divine worship of the Church, elevating our hearts and minds to God.

Cantors and choir members encourage active participation in the Holy Mass by leading the people in sacred music. Cantors sing at the 5:00pm Mass on Saturday, and the choir at the 9:00am Mass on Sunday. Training for cantors is scheduled individually; the choir rehearses each Tuesday at 6:30pm from September to May. One does not have to be able to read music in order to be a cantor or a member of the choir.
