First Holy Communion

"I am the living bread that came down from heaven;
whoever eats this bread will live forever;
and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world."

— John 6:51

Receiving the Holy Eucharist is a milestone in the life of every Catholic. The Sacrament of Penance is closely tied to the Eucharist, enabling us to offer the Sacrifice of the Mass more worthily, and to receive Holy Communion more fruitfully.

Normally, First Penance and First Holy Communion take place during the Second grade. This requires that students attend religious-education classes (on Wednesday, 6:00 to 7:00pm) or Sacred Heart School. In addition, all students— whether enrolled in religious education or at Sacred Heart School— must attend special classes for First Penance and First Holy Communion, which take place one Sunday a month from 10:15 to 11:15am.

The parish assesses a $50 fee to cover the cost of instructional materials associated with First Penance and First Holy Communion. (This fee is in addition to the religious education fee.) First Penance and First Holy Communion can be received at other times as well, according to the circumstances of each child.

The registration form for the First Penance and First Holy Communion can be downloaded here.
